The first weekend in August is V-Twin Cruisers M/C Southeast Ohio chapters "Benefit Run For Abused Children" hosted by Rex Briggs and Mary Nelson in Langsville, Ohio. The event starts off at Rex and Mary's general store on SR-124 in Langsville, Ohio called "By The Way" and ends on their farm near by. Every year the N.E. Ohio chapter of V-Twin Cruisers heads down to support this event and its sister chapter, staying at the only motel in the area....Meigs Motel on SR-124 or camping at the farm. The roads are some of the best in Ohio to ride, the scenery is great with State parks, lakes, and the Ohio River near by. The event has food, live band, vendors, door prizes, and a live auction. If you enjoyed this event or have a story about it, we want to hear about it. i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd296/Vtwincruzr/Benefit%20Run%20For%20Abused%20Children/SoutheastOhio02.jpg

Went to this years bike run Aug 1-3 2008, put on by one of our southeast, Ohio club members in Langsville, Ohio. Headed down Friday morning August 1st. (beautiful day), with six other club members taking SR-93 most of the way to SR-13 in Glouster to SR-33 to SR-124 to Meigs Motel. A little while after we pulled in we met up with V-Twin Cruiser members Mike & Cheryl Smith and Lyod & Mary. Friday night we ate at the "Wild Horse" on SR-7 in Pomeroy, and then it was back to the hotel for some room front patio bs'ing and drinking. Saturday August 2nd., another beautiful day. It was breakfast and then off on the Mystery Run which should have been called the Graveyard Run!, with over seven of the stops being grave yards to find answers to the mystery run questions. This years run had a lot of nice back roads with great scenery. I enjoyed every bit of the run along with an Ice cream stop in a small town along the run route. At one point of the run a large buzzard with claws extended swooped down on Dirty Mary just missing her head and during another part of the run a slow moving turtle crossing the road was scared out of his shell as bikes roared by him. And yes it was an official V-Twin run, along with all the special features of turn arounds, going the wrong way, and wow!, how did I get here. And no I wasn't leading....Llyod was our Road Captain for the run and he had me laughing all the way. The end of the run was nothing like last year, nothing was set up and ready, no other bikes showed up for the run but us., so of course we got most of the door prizes, and won all the awards. Cheryl Smith took first place on the run, and Mike Smith took first place in the "Hillbilly Horse Shoe" game. A local band that played the event that evening was really good along with another entertainer named Larry who was just kicking out favorite songs yelled out by V-Twin members. With the sun starting to go down we headed back to the motel with Tom & Gena almost hitting to large deers who ran out in front of them. Once back at the motel it was party time!! Sunday August 3rd., another warm sunny day. Time to head home. We started off by going to breakfast first and then hitting the road. We ran SR-7 east to SR-555 THE TRIPLE NICKLE north from SR-7. I will have to say this is by far the best road in Ohio to ride. This road has lots of blind rises over hills and decreasing radius turns with switchbacks and a lot of twisties. This is a very, very exciting and challenging road to travel. The scenic view is great along the route, but it is a very demanding road, leaving very little time for site seeing or relaxation. I tried going slow so I could look at the scenery and still had to keep my eyes on the road much of the time. When we reached SR-78, we took it east to the "Big Bucket" and then on to SR-83 north to some other roads heading east going through a town called Cumberland, Ohio.
