Area attractions: Zilpo Scenic By-Way, Red River Gorge, Nada Tunnel, Daniel Boon National Forest, Clear Creek Lake, Cave Run Lake, Blue Grass Raceway Park-NHRA Drag Races, Country Music Hwy, Waterfalls, Rafting, Horseback Riding, Go Karts, Bad Branch Nature Preserve, Caves, Caverns and a lot of nice back roads and small towns.
FRICTION ZONE magazine Dec. 06 issue has a two page article on this area called Discover Kentucky-Slade with route directions for a 110 mile loop ride covering some nice area roads. Starts at Natural Bridge at Roses's Restaurant and Dairy Bar and covers eight area state routes in the Daniel Boone National Forest.
American Motorcyclist Magazine August 2007 Issue has a 5 page story on Finding Kentucky's Best Back roads. It starts off like this, "I'm banking through a series of fun curves on Kentucky Route 169 when I round a left-hander to find an unusual sign: "No Bridge Ahead, Large Trucks Seek Alternate Route." What? No bridge? And only large trucks need to be worried? as I traveled on the road I came up on a river and the tiniest ferry I've ever seen. The Valley View Ferry has been there since 1785 and the oldest west of the Appalachian Mountains.
Some other roads....Rout 89 Kentucky Scenic Byway has an old wood plank bridge you can cross. This road is a hidden gem and rivals some of the best motorcycle roads in the country.
Route 52 has lots of twisties and plenty of places to eat like the Railroad Cafe in Irvine.
Route 15 is a great ride with plenty of switchbacks and hairpin turns
More info to come at this site....book your rooms early! this is a tourist area and they will be filled fast.
NEW INFO: Eastern Shore chapter, Southeast Ohio chapter, N.E. Ohio chapter has confirmed that they will be at the Rendezvous this year.
