V-Twin Cruisers M/C did another Cook Forest Run, but this year we added going canoing on the Clarion river. The first group met Friday morning at McDonald's in Concord at I-90 & 44. We pulled out at 10am on a nice warm summer morning with 10 members and headed out on scenic 608 to 322 and stopped for breakfast at the corner of 322 & 193 at a nice little restaurant with a big attitude. Well the attitude came from our waitress who was a bit on the spunky side. Lots of laughs, good food and really great gravy and biscuits.
After breakfast we continued on Ohio 322 which ran into PA-322 by Pymatuning State Park to 58 south into a collage town called Greenville which also has a nice train museum. From here we picked up 358 east into Sandy Lake and then we picked up 62 north. The ride really gets nice here, very scenic and passes by a very old college that sits on a hill in Poke, PA. After Poke, 62 takes you into Franklin where we picked up PA-322 to Clarion, PA to our hotel Quality Inn. Friday afternoon some of us went riding in the Allegheny National Forest area and Cook Forest while other members stayed at the motel and took advantage of the pool. Friday evening more club members showed up and Friday night was party time around the pool. Saturday some of us went riding and a lot of us went canoing.......I think we all should have went riding, the river was deep in some spots and shallow in a lot of places, we were hitting rock, after rock, falling into the river, dragging our canoe, pushing our canoe, falling out of our canoe, falling under our canoe, falling in our canoe. Our 10 mile trip was shorten to a 6 and 7 mile trip when we all couldn't take it any more...draged our canoe's out of the river and flagged down one of the canoe trucks to take us back. Story's....yes lots of them, laughs...yep! a lot, exhusted...you bet! I could have saved myself a lot of aggravation before hand and just had the canoe guy slap me a couple of times, throw me to the ground, dump water on me, hit me with the Orr and then pay him his money and call it a day.
A good place to eat in downtown Clarion, PA is at The Captain Loomis Restaurant 540 Main Street. Ph 814-226-8400 they serve Italion food and it is great.
Well anyway here are the pic's, check back....more coming.

We left McDonald's taking Auburn Rd. north to Concord-Hambden Rd. to Rt-608 heading south to RT-322 going east into PA. Once in PA we picked up Rt-58 heading south into Greensville, PA., home of the Greenville Train Depot museum.
In Greenville, PA. we picked up Rt-358 east till we came into the town of Sandy Lake. Here RT-358 ends and RT-62 begins, still heading east into Franklin. PA
Franklin, PA. is one of my favorite towns in PA. Nestled in the valley along the Allegheny River with mountains on all sides this small town still has all the old time charm and beauty of the past. Routes 62, 8, and 322 meet here. This is a good place to gas up or get something to eat. As we left here we took Rt-322 into the town of Clarion. PA.
